Background: Thousands of people turned out in Casablanca on Tuesday (25 November) to see Britain's Southampton team draw one all against one of Morocco's top teams, Raja, in a friendly soccer match. Plagued by a hamstring injury, English captain Kevin Keegan was not expected to take part in the Casablanca match, but when 80,000 fans packed the stadium chanting the England captain's name, the match was held up for 40 minutes while Keegan was rushed to the grounds under police escort.

SYNOPSIS: Southampton officials, worried about the risk of further injury to their star player, where stunned by the reaction, and hard-pressed to keep the fans at bay. Southampton, in the red shirts, kicked off against raja, one of Morocco's most competitive sides. The fans didn't have to wait long to see their hero in action.

Raja, determined no to be disgraced by the English visitors, came on the attack early in the first half. Southampton's keeper, wells, couldn't hold this long through ball and raja scored.

In the second half, the Moroccans were on the attack again, this time through a deep cross to the goal mouth.

Still trailing one-nil Southampton prepared the Raja goal, only narrowly failing with this attack by Holmes from well outside the penalty area.

Success finally came with a close range shot from George who had easily beaten the Moroccan defenders.

Despite Southampton's effort, Raja held the visitors to a one-all draw. Towards the end of the match, Southampton officials took Keegan out of the game, not willing to risk aggravating his country. Keegan left the field to a standing ovation.
