    THE CHAMPIONSHIP WAS DECIDED ON AGGREGATE TIMES FOR FOUR EVENTS - THE 500, 5,000, 1.500 AND 10,000 METRES
    THE FIRST TWO EVENTS WERE STAGED ON SATURDAY (24 JANUARY) AND THE SECOND PAIR YESTERDAY.

    AT THE COMPLETION OF THE 500, 5,000 AND 1,500 METRES EVENTS, SCHENK WAS LEADING WITH 127.640 SECONDS, WITH ROAR GROENVOLD, OF NORWAY, IN SECOND PLACE WITH 128.3, AND CLAESON THIRD WITH 128.49.

    IN THE 1,500 METRES, SCHENK WAS MATCHED AGAINST FORNALESS AND EACH FOUGHT HARD TO GAIN THE UPPER HAND. SCHENK WON IN 2 MIN. 4.8 SECONDS, AGAINST FORNAESS'S 2 MIN 6.3 SECONDS.

    IN THE FINAL 10,000 METRES, FORNAESS MADE A TREMENDOUS EFFORT ON SOFTENING ICE TO CATCH UP WITH SCHENK'S LEAD. HE ESTABLISHED A NEW RINK RECORD OF 15 MINUTES, 42.9 SECONDS.

    SCHENK FINISHED WITH AN AGGREGATE TIME OF 175.625 SECONDS, AGAINST FORNAESS'S 175.715 SECONDS. CLAESON'S TIME WAS 176.265 SECONDS.
