Background: At lest forty people have been killed in clashes between Palestinian commandos and right wing Falangists in the Lebanese capital of Beirut.
The fighting broke out on Sunday night (13 April) when a bus carrying Palestinian refugees was attacked while passing through the suburb of Ain Rumaneh, a Falangist stronghold.
People in the bus said men started firing from roof tops and from the street. They said 26 people on the bus were killed and a number were wounded.
Since then there have been sporadic outbursts of gunfire and explosions caused by mortars and hand grenades.
