Background: Throughout the world, millions of people suffer from the noise created by traffic on busy roads. But for some of the residents of Nanterre near Paris there is no some relief.
SYNOPSIS: A steady stream of traffic on the G14 autoroute from Paris to Nanterre had been causing noise problems for people living nearby. The occupants of some blocks of apartments just near the road had suffered particularly. However, a new noise reducing wall has relieved some of their trouble. It's built form aluminium and special sound-absorbing glass.
The sound-reducing qualities of the wall have made life in the apartments a little more pleasant, whole the use of glass has meant that road-users and resident alike can still admire the scenery. The construction of the wall was undertaken as part of a French Government campaign to reduce all forms of noise throughout the country, and improve the quality of life for the French citizen.
