Background: About 2,000 women demanding equal rights with men massed in central London today (Saturday, 6 March) in one of the biggest female demonstrations seen in Britain since the days when the Suffragettes were fighting for women to be given the right to vote. They marched from Hyde Park to Trafalgar Square, carrying banners and distributing leaflets saying that women need liberating because they are exploited in every aspect of their lives. A group of the women presented a petition at NO. 10 Downing Street, the official residence of Britain's Prime Minister, Mr. Heath. Mr. Heath is, of course, a bachelor.
