Background: SYNOPSIS: Miss Muriel Vaughn is a British physiotherapist working with physically handicapped people at the Lake Bunyoni Centre.

Recently (November 1972) Pres. Amin of Uganda threatened to kick out all the British in the country. This would mean the end of Miss Vaughn's work and probably the end of the centre.

Miss Vaughn explains that handicapped people in Uganda are a burden on their families and therefore unwanted. At the centre they learn a skill, trade, or whatever and can return to their families. Concerning her expulsion and what would happen to the people because of it, she didn't know what would.
