Background: A new Communist drive is developing at the approaches to Saigon. North Vietnamese forces are attacking along Highway One, ??? leads north-westwards into nearby Cambodia. This new pr???sure on the defenses of the South Vietnamese capital's defence is believed to be aimed at preventing further attempts by government forces to fight their way through to the besieged provincial capital of An Loc, now under its seventh week of seige.

South Vietnamese efforts to head off the Communist threat were aided by massive air strikes. Most of these were put in by the South Vietnamese Air Force. Troops entering the market village of Suoi Sau found the bodied of North Vietnamese troops killed trying to defend the town.
