    Background: Top-ranking Japanese tennis player Kazuko Sawamatsu was interviewed at Bournemouth, England, on Monday (7 May) about her prospects for the 1973 European tennis season.

    Sawamatau, who rose to sporting fame in 1969 when she won the Wimbledon Junior invitation event, is competing in the GBP27,000 (US $67,000) British hard court championships, which have been dogged by rain since they opened on Monday.
