Background: Britain's Terry Fullerton won the annual Hong Kong Kart Grand Prix on November 27 for the third time. Fullerton clocked 22 minutes 50.62 seconds in 35 laps around the twisting 800-metre track set up in Hong Kong's Victoria Park. Dutchman Peter De Bruyn finished second with a time of 22 minutes 54.44 seconds, with Switzerland's Paul Guedel taking third place in 23 minutes 0.23 seconds. Fullerton roared off to an early lead with De Bruyn hot on his heels. De Bruyn overtook him in the seventh lap, but broke his exhaust pipe one lap later and could not maintain his speed. Fullerton overtook him in the fifteenth lap and led the race to the finish, winning the first prize of 30,000 Hong Kong dollars (about 3,800 US dollars). The Hong Kong International Grand Prix ranks amongst the first in the world in prize money and driver appeal. This year, the seventeenth annual event, attracted 32 top drivers from many countries.
