Background: Bill Brask, a United States professional, won the Hong Kong Open Golf Championship by seven strokes from defending champion, Greg Norman of Australia on February 26. More than 140 players competed for the 150,000 US dollar tournament held at the Royal Hong Kong Golf Club over four days. Norman missed out on his third Hong Kong victory, finishing up with 275, three strokes ahead of the three equal third placers. They were Britain's Michael McLean, the Philippines Rudy Lavares and Mark James, an another British contender. His Excellency the Governor of Hong Kong Sir Edward Youde, presented Brask with his prize. Brask set a championship 12-under-par record with his final 268 total and finished the final round with a par 70.
