Background: Fearless Ricardo Schneider, holder of the world record for tight-rope walking - he has stayed aloft for 104 hours - boarded the liner "Stavangerfjord" at Copenhagen March 19 for an attempt to improve his old record by nearly 80 hours.

Schneider intends to walk on the tight-rope for the whole of the seven-day sea trip to, New York. The 33-year-old aerialist will have all meals served to him on the rope.

This seemingly easy walk up and down a tight-rope in port could become a suicidal risk in heavy Atlantic seas.

His most famous trip was in 1959 when, some 9000 feet up, he walked for one day on a rope between two mountains in the Alps.
