TRANSCRIPTS: SEQ. 2: LINDSAY: To protest against the war is right as well as pragmatic. and it is pragmatic. Patriotism means support for America - not necessarily for any particular policy or administration. When a war eats away at the substance and the soul of a nation, patriotism requires that we act to end it.

SEQ. 7: MCGOVERN: I think it's clear that our country has been going through a period of almost unprecedented anguish, despair, desperation, and yet, through all of this it seems to me that there has been a current of hope and optimism that ought to give us all cause for faith in the essential decency and goodness of millions of people all across this country. And one of the reasons I wanted to stop by this convocation today was to express the appreciation I feel as a fellow citizen of this country for the effort you are making.

SEQ. 10: WARREN: The war in Indo-china has brought to fever pitch our crisis, already heightened by racial tensions. Crime, poverty, inflation and pollution of the environment. It seems strange that when all americans speak for peace, and most insist that we are seeking a negotiated peace and not a military victory, that we should be divided on whether we will end the war by stopping it or by escalating it.
