Background: A Bangla Desh Mission opened in New Delhi on Monday (August 30), staffed by two former Pakistani diplomats who defected in April. The Mission, which does not have the recognition of the Indian Government, is the fourth to be opened -- others have been set up in Calcutta, London and Washington.

VISNEWS cameraman Jagdish Kapoor visited the Mission's office on the day it opened.

SYNOPSIS: A Bangla Desh Mission was opened in New Delhi, India, on Monday, staffed by two former Pakistan diplomats who defected in April. Head of the Mission is Mr. K.M. Shehabuddin, former Secretary of the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi, seen here briefing one of the first visitors to the Mission on the situation in Pakistan. Hung on the Mission's office wall is a map of the area -- showing the districts reportedly controlled by Bangla Desh troops.

The second defected diplomat, Mr Amjud Ul Haq, was assistant press attache at the now defunct Pakistan High Commission in Delhi. He is serving as press attache at the Bangla Desh Mission.

The Mission, which is not recognised by the Indian Government, is the fourth to be opened. Others have ben set up in Calcutta, Washington and London.
