I say 'WE" because while I am speaking on behalf of Aero-Spatiale, I have at my side Mr. Boullioun, who is vice-president of the Boeing commercial aircraft division, and Mr. Hanby, who is one of the directors of the British Aircraft Corporation. As you know, the British Aircraft Corporation is associated with Aero-Spatiale in the development and production of the Concorde while the Boeing company is responsible for developing the American supersonic commercial aircraft known as S.S.T. It is rather unusual to see industrial competitors sitting at the same table and, in fact, our common objective is to put at the disposal of airliners much faster aircraft that can fly at a high supersonic speed."

Background: Information about the Anglo-French supersonic airliner Concorde's sonic booms and other ecological problems will be exchanged with the American Boeing company under an agreement signed in Paris yesterday (October 6th).
In non-technical language, the two sides will pool information on engine noise, sonic booms and air pollution caused by supersonic airliners, which are currently under attack from people who fear they will pollute the environment.
The contract was signed by M. Henri Ziegler on behalf of the French Aero-Spatiale state-owned company, Mr. Gordon Hanby, commercial director of the Filton Division of the British Aircraft Corporation ( joint manufacturers of the Concorde ) and Mr. E.H. Boullioun, a vice-president of the Boeing company.
M. Ziegler said the three companies had agreed to join forces in combatting any criticism which they considered invalid.
Reporting on the Concorde, he said it was expected to reach March 2 - or twice the speed of sound - before the end of this year. Air certification of the airliner was expected by 1973 and it was hoped that it would be in commercial service early in 1974.
The Concorde has a five-year lead over its rival, the Boeing 2707, but the American airliner will be larger and probably faster.
