Background: United States Vice-President Spiro Agnew, on the second day of his Kenyan visit, lunched with President Jomo Kenyatta in Nairobi yesterday (Tuesday). Before the meal, the two leaders discussed matters of mutual interest, and Mr. Agnew was reported to have praised Kenya, s progress in the modern world and the harmony achieved by the country's multi-racial society. In an exchange of gifts, Mr. Agnew was presented with the carving of a rhinoceros.
Mr. Agnew's visit to Kenya is part of his 10-nation tour on behalf of President Nixon. He said on arrival that he was impressed by the warmth of relationship that existed between Kenya and the United States.
