Background: Residents of the little Dutch town of Edam "put the clock back" 100 years to celebrate the recent 600th anniversary of their community.
Almost the entire population of 4,500 people produced costumes of the last century and wore them during the week of celebrations.
The cheesemarket, another old custom that died out about 50 years ago, was also revived and our CAMERAMAN found the market in full swing when he visited the town during the celebrations.
Farmers for miles around had bought in their cheeses to sell - many using age-old water transport to take their wares to the market.
Would-be purchasers followed the old system of hand-slapping bargaining - a strong handshake marking the completion of the deal.
Old times were re-captured by dancers who performed traditional figures in costumes more than 100 years old, while more modern RECENT YEARS were introduced by a parade of early cars arranged by the Dutch Veteran Automobile Club.
