Background: The Executive of the Jewish Agency, the body responsible for handling immigration to Israel, met in Jerusalem on Sunday (30 September 1973) to discuss the Austrian Government's decision to close the ??? transit camp for Soviet Jews. The decision followed Friday's ???el???urs of hostages by two Arab guerrillas. The Israeli Cabinet meeting in emergency section accused the Austrian Government of surrendering to terrorists." The Jewish Agency meeting was attended by Israel's Ambassador to Austria, Mr. Yitzhak Patish, who was recalled home for consultations after the incident. The Acting Chairman of the Agency, Mr. Leon Dulczin expressed dismay at the Austria action.
SYNOPSIS: In Jerusalem, the Executive of the Jewish Agency met an Sunday to discuss the Austrian Government's decision to close the Schoenau transit camp to Soviet Jews on their way to Israel. The Agency is responsible for handling immigration and wanted to discuss the new development with Israel's Ambassador to Austria, Mr. Yitzhak Patish, who had been recalled for consultations. The Austrians agreed to close the camp when two Arab guerrillas seize hostages in Vienna on Friday. The Israeli Cabinet, which met in emergency session accused the Austrian Government of surrendering to terrorists.
