Background: Sunday arrived in the port of Rotterdam two ships with Indonesian refugees. There were the "Corfu" a British ship with 116 people aboard and the "Sibajak" a Dutch ship with 834 people aboard.
Both ships arrived alter then was expected because of a storm on the Northsea. Because of the storm the pilotservice from Hook of Holland to Rotterdam was suspended. The "Corfu" went from Hook van Holland to Rotterdam without help of the pilotservice because of favourable tide, but the "Sibajak" that was later, had to wait hours, and arrived in Rotterdam after sunset.
The refugees from the tropics set foot on native soil in the most awful winterweather: cold and it was snowing, we snow. Most repatriant stay aboard ship till Monday when they will all leave for a military camp Budel which has been prepared as a welcoming centre. Others go to family in Holland.
The passengers aboard the Corfu had a pleasant trip. They were mostly women and children, as most of the husbands had to stay temporarily behind in Indonesia and will come to Holland later.
