TRANSCRIPT: HARRY METRINKO: We were in the presence of the President of the United States and Mrs Carter and Mr Vance the secretary of state, and we had some really encouraging word from the president and he was very kind.
SIMPSON: The Metrinko's apparently found out today that their son is alive and well. White House officials say the president's encouraging words should not be interpreted to mean that a break in the hostage crisis is imminent; only that the president's continues to do all he can to free the hostages.
