Background: The sub-committee of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries, met in Baghdad, Iraq, Dec 1. Delegates from Persia, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia were present for the opening session. Venezuela, the other member nation, was not represented.
Leading the Iraqi delegation is Sayid Abdul Fattah Ibrahim President of Iraq's General Board of Oil Affairs. He is expected to tell of recent discussion between Iraqi Premier Kassem and leading representatives of the Iraqi Petroleum Company in which the Iraqi leader demanded a larger proportion of royalties as "the rights of the Iraqi people."
Recently the G.P.E. sent formal notes to the oil companies protesting at the recent crude oil price cuts.
