MICHIGAN DELEGATE: "Michigan proudly and with enthusiasm will cast the majority of its votes and place in nomination the name of the President of the United States."

ALABAMA DELEGATE: "Alabama, because it wants to win in November by a mandate of its people and in support of the free enterprise system, casts all 37 of its votes for Governor Ronald Reagan."

NEW YORK DELEGATE: "Madame secretary, the state of New York the great empire state. The state casts the largest block of votes at this convention for the President of the United States, casts one vote for a fine public servant, Elliot Richardson...20 votes; for an outstanding American, Ronald Reacan, and 133 votes for the greatest President and the next President of the United States, Gerald R. Ford."

WEST VIRGINIA DELEGATE: "The state of West Virginia proudly presents its vote on behalf of our party's candidate for the presidency -- 20 votes for Gerald R. Ford."

FORD: "I think the campaign you waged and the organisation you put together was beneficial to the campaign. We are beginning right away to defeat the Democratic nominees and to make certain our philosophy prevails for the next four years. I thank you for your indication of full support and again I congratulate you again on a fine campaign, thank you very much."

REAGAN: "Mr. President my congratulations to you. It was a good fight (unclear) and he won, congratulations and of course you know we both agreed all the way through from the very beginning that once the fight was over we are on the same side and go forward together."

REPORTER: "Governor Reagan are you going to stand by your statement that you will not accept the Vice Presidency?"

REAGAN: "I still stand by that statement - yes."

The Democratic candidate, Mr. Jimmy Carter has warned supporters that President Ford will be a formidable foe in the campaign for the presidency. Mr. Carter also predicted that his own popularity would slip in opinion polls once the campaign gets underway for the November election, and he warned Democrats against taking his victory for granted.
