    TRANSCRIPT

THOMSON: "I WOULD'T LIKE TO SPECULATE ON ANOTHER MEETING WITH THEM BUT I HOPE THAT IN ONE WAY AND OTHER WE WILL GET THEIR VIEWS.

INTERVIEWER: "I PRESUME IT HAS ARRANGED FOR YOU TO GET THEM?

THOMSON: "I WOULDN'T LIKE TO GO FURTHER THAN WHAT I HAVE JUST SAID. I THINK WE'VE NARROWED THE GAP SINCE "FEARLESS" BUT THE GAP THAT REMAINS IS STILL A VERY DEEP ONE AND DEALS WITH FUNDAMENTAL ISSUES, AND DEALS NOT ONLY WITH THE PRIVY COUNCIL ISSUE WHICH IS KNOWN TO BE THE SOURCE OF DIFFERENCE BETWEEN US BUT SOME OTHER ISSUES AS WELL.

    INTERVIEWER: NEW ISSUES, SIR?

THOMSON: "NO, NOT NEW ISSUES, I AM AFRAID WE'VE GONE OVER THIS GROUND SO THOROUGHLY NOW FOR SUCH A LONG TIME THAT IT WOULD BE VERY UNEXPECTED IF SOME NEW ISSUES CAME UP.

    INTERVIEWER: "I THINK IT'S A CONVENIENT COINCIDENCE.
