    REPORTER MICHAEL COLE: "...was planted outside Broadcasting House in a stolen van. Three men were seen running away. It was a few minutes before noon."



    "The damage to windows was extensive, but fortunately the main blast was taken by a windowless wall. Injuri??? weren't serious but nineteen people, mainly women, were taken to hospital with shock and outs. Three of them are still detained. The other bomb, twenty to fifty pounds, was at the motor showroom of Thompson-Road. (Phonetic spelling of motor-car sales company). Two men left it in a stolen car, and gave the manager fifteen minutes to leave. He got everybody clear, and there were no injuries. But one-hundred-and-fifty brand new care were damaged."

    Background: Two bombs exploded in Belfast, capital of Northern Ireland, on Thursday (May 11) -- causing extensive damage to property and some injuries. the first bomb,planted in a stolen van, exploded outside the offices of the British Broadcasting Corporation, injuring nineteen passers-by -- mostly woman. Several windows were broken, but the main force of the blast was absorbed by a windowless wall. this film shows the actual explosion taking place.

    The second bomb several damaged a motor-car showroom, destroying or damaging 150 new cars. Again, the bomb was planted in a stolen vehicle, but there were no injuries after the manager had cleared the building in response to a warning from the two men who had cleared the building in response to a warning from the two men who had driven the van in to the showroom.

    SYNOPSIS: Northern Ireland....and in the capital, Belfast, a bomb planted in a stolen van exploded outside the office of the British Broad-casting Corporation on Thursday.

    The blast broke several windows, and nineteen passers-by, mostly women, were injured and taken to hospital.

    A second explosion in the city wrecked a motor-car showroom, destroying or damaging one-hundred-and-fifty new cars. The bomb was planted in a stolen car, driven into the showroom by two men. They told the manager it was due to go off in fifteen minutes, and he cleared the building. No-one was injured in the blast.
