Background: Mrs Eleonor Roosevelt, wife of the late American President, Franklin D. Roosevelt, flew into Copenhagen on September 28 after her three weeks' 'assignment' in Russia.

Mrs. Roosevelt, who is writing a series of articles for the New York Times told waiting reporters that she had spoken with Kruschev. He had told her, she said, that war was 'unthinkable'.

She had spoken, too, she said with many Russian people, particularly to a Russian mother who had written to her paper criticizing American women and their way of life. Mrs. Roosevelt said she had convinced this woman that America was not all she had thought.

As for the rest of her experiences, Mrs Roosevelt said she had many tape-recorded interview, the gist of which she would not divulge. It will appear in the paper, she said...."so don't ask me to give away my story."
