Background: In San Esteban de la Riba there is a park for the acolimatisation of big game, regarded as the best in Europe. Wild boars, absolutely tamed and enjoying the freedom of the forest, abound in it. They are not dangerous and at the call of the trumpet almost five hundred of different species dutifully gather.
Also in this park, side by side with the wild boars, the deers which were brought from the district of Jaen have been bred. In Spain this species is found in a zone running from Aragon and the mountains of Leon to the Sierra Horona, and from Portugal to the mountainous district of Cuenca. They are fed with acorns, chestnuts, blackberries, wild flowers, mushrooms and bark.
In the Sierra de Cadi, deers are set loose so that Catalonia may again have specimens such as those which fled the country three centuries ago.
The Head of the National Service of Pluvial Fishing and Hunting, Don Jaime de Foxa, is in Alp.
In addition to the propagation of the species, the establishment of a national part of scolimatization covering 20 hectares on the Sierra, shall be promoted as a means of constant repopulation.
