Background: Dacca, the capital of the self-styled East Bengali nation of Bangladesh, has been eagerly awaiting the return of Sheikh Mijibar Rahman, the Awami League leader who's been named as Head of State. Sheikh Mujib turned up in London on Saturday (8 January), only hours after his release from house arrest by the Pakistani Government.

On Friday (7 January) Mukti Bahini troops were drilling in Dacca preparing to form the guard of honour upon Sheikh Mujib's return. An outside broadcast unit of the self-proclaimed nation's tiny television service stood by for the arrival.

Dacca leaders may have to wait a little longer because it's reported that Sheikh Mujib will stop in New Delhi to see Mrs. Gandhi on his way home.

Troops of the Mukti Bahini forces have been drilling in Dacca as they prepared to form the honour guard for Sheikh Mujib's return. These men were working under Pakistani officers who've defecte Leaders in Dacca were reported to have asked Mr. Heath to arrange for Sheikh Mujib to be flown home. But it's now said he may fly first to Delhi on his way to Dacca. So the Sheikh's supporter may have to continue their vigil a little while longer.
