Background: An International Stamp Collector's Show was held at Palermo (Sicily) on the 100th anniversary of the issue of Sicily's first postage stamp. The stamp was cut by Aloisio Juvara from Messina and was known as the "grana".
The Show is made up of 2500 "tables" divided in 15 rooms.
About 500,000 stamps have been placed on show and are worth around Five billion Lire.
More than 100 persons make up what might be called the "stock market" for stamps and these men are of varied Nationalities.
About 500 collectors have placed their "treasures" on show. Among them the better known collectors in the world: Sin John Wilson; curator of Her Majesty's stamp collection, Sai Vita, Anderegg, Tomassini, and Rivolta: to mention just a very few.
