Background: With the Pakistan general election date now set for December 7th, the Chairman of the People's Party, Mr Z.A. Bhutto, addressed a major election rally at Memon Goth, West pakistan on Sunday (20 Sept). Thirteen political parties are expected to contest the election which will mark the handover from Army to Civilian rule.

Pakistan's first ever one-man-one-vote general election was originally set for October 5th. But disastrous flooding in East Pakistan is among factors which has delayed the polling until December.

Nominations for candidates must be completed by October 15th and Mr Bhutto is warming up the election campaign with speeches to rallies in many parts of Pakistan.
