    The special U.S. envoy to the Lebanon, Philip Habib, continued his talks on June 23rd with Lebanese leaders, aimed at solving the crisis triggered by the Israeli invasion. He held talks with Lebanon's National Salvation Council, bringing together all the main factions: Walid Jumblatt of the leftist Muslim National Movement, Beshir Gemayel of the right-wing Christian Phalangists. Also present was Shafiq al Wazzan, prime minister of Lebanon, who resigned his post on June 25th, in protest at the Israeli action. Walid Jumblatt withdrew from the Council on June 25th.
