Background: The Festival of Baalbeck, one of the most famous in the world, opened July 25, in the picturesque surroundings of the floodlit ruins of the Temple of Bacchus at Beirut, Lebanon.
This International Festival, the third to be held here, which continues until the end of August, began with a concert by the Italian Chamber Orchestra, I Musici of Rome in the presence of the Italian Ambassador and other personalities.
Lebanese Rolando Elias was the first singer at the Festival which will present Music, Theatre, Ballet, and Lebanese Folk songs and dances during the month.
