Background: Unemployment throughout Kenya is one of the biggest problems that the country has to face, and the country is tackling this in a way that maybe unique. The Government has decreed that all private employers will take on an additional 10% labour force, while the government will increase it staffs by 15%. Handout No. 217 dated 10th Feb will explain the scheme fully. This afternoon in the Charter Hall the Government met the Federation of Labour and the Federation of Employers to sign the agreement that has been drawn up regarding this scheme.
