Background: The start of a six-week holiday in the sun for Sir Winston and Lady Churchill was filmed Jan 12 at London Airport as they left by 'plane for Marrakesh, Morocco.
The car driving Sir Winston and Lady Churchill from the departure lounge, drew up as near as possible to the gangway of the aircraft because of the hazardous icy conditions and bitter winds. This enabled Sir Winston to walk up the gangway with the minimum of discomfort. After their luggage had been loaded aboard the 'plane, Mr. Aristotle Onnassis, the Greek shipping magnate who is flying with the Churchills to Morocco, but returning straight back to London, waved goodbye from the door of the aircraft.
Sir Winston and Lady Churchill and their party of eight are to stay in 12 rooms GBP40 a day in the Hotel Mamounia, Marrakesh.
Marrakesh experienced its worst rainstorm in seven months today.
Another hitch to a well-planned holiday -- the automatic lift in Sir Winston's second-floor suite broke down yesterday. The four people trapped inside were soon released but the lift was still not working last night. The only other service lift is at the end of a long corridor from Sir Winston's rooms.
