Background: In Indonesia a campaign has been launched under the title "Liberate Western New Guinea." The developments in this campaign against the Dutch, following the United Nations rejection of the Indonesian sponsored resolution on West New Guinea, are being viewed with grave concern by the 48,000 members of the Dutch community here in Jakarta.

This film was taken in Jakarta by our own cameraman. The National flag was flown for Hero's Day, but this is what happened the same night. We were told that no Indonesian cameraman would take these pictures for fear of reprisals. These slogans say "Throw the Dutch out of West New Guinea." and "Help lift the heel of the Dutch." Most of the slogans were painted on Dutch buildings or vehicles, but somewhere double on Australian buildings, for which the Indonesian Government later apologised.

The sign of the cross and skull-bones carried no inscription, but on the building of Jakarta's biggest newspaper -- Java Bode -- the slogan read: Youth is calling for the gain of West New Guinea". The outbreak of slogan painting and described as the work of a comparative minority, but it is understood that residents dare not try to remove them for fear of inciting for trouble.

The latest information is to the effect that the Indonesian workers tried today, December 3rd., to seize three Dutch enterprises in Jakarta: and in Bandung a complete boycott has commenced of the whole 5000-strong Dutch community. In Sourbaya and Malang also the Dutch are under boycott.

It is also understood from Singapore that all shipping and airlines have been made by the Indonesian Government not to carry Dutch passengers from Singapore to destinations in Indonesia.
