Background: The Moscow public held a gala meeting in the Kremlin Palace of Congresses on April 12 to mark Cosmonautics Day.In the presidium of the meeting there were leaders of the Communist Party and Soviet Government, members of the Mongolian Party and government delegation, astronauts, scientists and leading workers.
Pioneers presented flowers to the party and government leaders and the spacemen.
The meeting was opened by Mr.Yegorichev, leader of the Moscow Communist Party organisation.
The floor is given to Academician Keldish, President of the USSR Academy of Sciences.He reviewed the achievements of Soviet science in space research in the 7 and a half years of the space age.He noted that the accomplishments were made possible due to the high level of science and engineering in the USSR.
A millwright from the Likhachoev Auto Works, Mr.Mikhailichenko, on behalf of all the workers of Moscow sincerely greeted the spacement, scientists, designers and workers who built the spaceships.
The meeting heard Vladimir Komarov he noted that a new stage had begun in space exploration.He described the Soviet multi-mull ships now in use as the phototypes of the ships that would take man to the Moon and other planets of the solar system.
