Background: Representing President Nasser, the Egyptian Minister of Industry, Dr. Aziz Sedky, was filmed by VISNEWS Apl 16 as he opened an exhibition of oil drilling and refinery equipment, and afterwards inaugurated the first Arab petroleum congress in Cairo, Egypt.
Mohammed Salman, Arba League representative, speaking to the delegates from eight Arab countries, Persia and Venezuela, and 385 companies to revise their contracts with the Middle-East's oil producing states and strip them of all suspicion of exploitation.
He reiterated that the Arab world felt no enmity towards foreign petroleum companies, "nor does it wish to eliminate them, But I should like to emphasise the injustice felt and the wish to share equally in the division of profits."
Iraq, the Middle-East's third largest oil producer refused to attend the six day oil talks because of what it called the "hostile attitude" of the United Arab Republic.
