Background: It is becoming the vague among American professional heavy-weights to describe in detail...and with considerable bravado... how they intend to demolish their future opponents. What was once quiet confidence spoken in subdued tones has been supplanted by savage predictions of things to come.
The most forceful exponent of this braggadocio is heavy-weight Cassius Clay...the third tanked contender for the world's championship. Clay...an undefeated 21-year-old who spews his forecasts in verse...recently told how long it would take him to dispose of Champion Sonny Liston...if and when the two fighters met.
Then Liston...who is expected to fight former champion Floyd Patterson in the spring...offered his own observation on the outcome of a Clay-Liston bout.
