SYNOPSIS: A near-capacity crowd in Tokyo's Yoyogi Olympic gymnasium saw Miss Navratilova, at the near end, go ahead 6-2 in the first set, and take a quick lead in the second.
The powerful Czech girl, still serving, bored on to make it 5-2.
She lost the next one, and in the final game still had a little difficulty with Miss Turnbull's well-pointed services.
But Miss Navratilova made no mistakes with the Australian girl's match point service.

In the other, all-British semi-final, Sue Barker, serving, got off to a good start with the opening point of the match.
