Background: Ministers from Dahomey, the Ivory Coast, Niger, Togo and Upper Volta decided on July 28 to build more abattoirs to develop ???t exports from the region.
They also agreed to hold a conference to co-ordinate customs and taxation regulations on the movement of livestock and meat products between their countries.
The agreements came after a three-day conference in Lome of the Council of Understanding's Economic Community for Cattle and ???eat. The Council is a loose economic and administrative line between the former French West African nations.
