Background: The Army has sealed off a mile-long stretch of the Crumlin Road in Belfast after another day of riots.
This evening, Saturday, 16th January, troops were standing guard as firemen fought the flames in burning vehicles and buildings. No vehicles are being permitted through the area. Pedestrians are being searched.
The Government of Northern Ireland has warned that further controls may have to be imposed in Belfast if the disturbances continue.
The Prime Minister, Major Chichester-Clark, has postponed a planned visit to the United States.
