Official Iraqi releases said only that Mr. Hussein received the Libyan Premier at the National Assembly building and they talked about bilateral relations between their two countries as well as world and Arab affairs.
Major Jalloud had visited the Syrian capital, Damascus, two days earlier as part of a tour to unify "the ranks" against dangers threatening the Arab world. His government had been openly displeased at President Sadat of Egypt's alleged recognising of Israel's existence in a speech during his European tour earlier this month."
Libyan Radio reported the Government was in touch with other Arab leaders to seek their opinion on "this great national betrayal".
