Background: The radio brought the joyous news during the celebrations of the Komsomol jubilee. A Soviet man is once again in Outer Space. The news about the launching of space-ship "Soyuz-3" became the main news of the planet. The space-ship is piloted by pilot-cosmonaut Hero of the Soviet union Colonel Georgi Timofeyevich Beregovoi. He began to fly 30 years ago. A 17 year-old pupil of an electro-mechanic began his first flights in the Enakievo Air Club. Soon he became a cadet of the Lugansk Military Air School. During the war the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union was awarded to pilot Beregovoi for bravery and heroism in the fight against fascist occupants. After war Beregovoi is a test-pilot. He has flown on 63 different types and constructions of aircraft. For his merits in the testing of new aircraft Beregovoi was awarded the title of the Merited Test Pilot of the USSR. In 1964 Beregovoi was put on the list for training as a cosmonaut. Beregovoi is 47 years old. He is the eldest of Cosmonauts. Great efforts of will and excellent health helped Beregovoi to pass a most complicated cycle of training on a Space Program.
During his four day space flight pilot-cosmonaut Beregovoi successfully filled a wide program of research and experiments in Outer Space. Cosmonaut German Titov said: "The significance of the launching of the space-ship "Soyuz-3" and it's program of scientific research lies in the fact that the ship manoeuvred on the orbit, drew close to space-ship "Soyuz-2", and that cosmonaut Beregovoi fulfilled numerous actions according to the program of scientific research. I think that the results received during the flight of "Soyuz-3" after they will be studied, will be of great help to designers and in our theoretical researches and in the practice of future Space flights". The flight of the tenth space-ship is another vivid victory in the mastering of outer space.
