Background: Northrop Corporation's new N-156F high-performance fighter plane, designed for air defense of free nations outside the U.S., was unveiled here today (May 30) before an audience of more than 500 persons including official representatives of more than 40 Free World countries.
Principal speaker for the roll-out ceremony was Major General Jarred V. Crabb Jarred V. Crabb, chief of staff of the U.S. Air Force's Air Defense Command.
The U.S. Government, through a U.S. Air Force contract, has allocated funds for developing the N-156F in order to provide a low-cost fighter weapon system tailored to the defense needs of allied nations.
Northrop Corporation president Thomas V. Jones, who presided at the ceremony, called the N-156F, a "symbol of real partnership with our Free World allies."
