Background: Mr. Hollis Chenery, economic adviser to World Bank President Robert McNamara, has left the Ivory Coast after a five-day visit. Mr. Chenery discussed the use of World Bank development funds in the Ivory Coast and held talks with officials responsible for public works, the economy and the national plan.
The World Bank has, over a period of years, loaned nearly $42 million to the Ivory Coast.
Mr. Chenery made a visit to a vegetable oil research institute on Saturday (3 April) and toured the area with the director of the centre, Mr. Christian Brunin.
