Background: At the PIO Nicosia the Minister of Interior Mr. Veniamin with his assistants met the local and foreign press people as well as the press attached of several Embassies in Cyprus.

He gave a full explanation and details of how the Cyprus Government met handled the release of the hostages and the arrest of the two hijackers who were at Larnaca Airport in a Cyprus Airway aircraft last night. Also, he made a statement about the reason which obliged the Government to use arms against the Egyptian Commandoes who landed and began shooting at the Cyprus Airways plain and every direction at the Larnaca Airport.

Mr. Veniamin answered a number of questions that the press put to him.
