Background: The new Canadian Ambassador to Togo, Mr Noble Power, presented his credentials to President Etienne Eyadema in Lome on Thursday, August 10th.
Mr Power, who is based in Accra(Ghana) where he also represents his country, spoke of the strong links between Canada and Togo - the French language, educational and economic exchanges. In his reply, President Eyadema expressed his Government's thanks to Canada for its aid to Togo.
The new envoy was born in 1931 and is a graduate in international relations at the french University of the Sorbonne. He has served in his country's Ministry of Defence; The Canadian Agency for International Development(with particular reference to Africa); and the Committee for foreign relations of the Canadian Government.
