Background: Argentina authorities are trying to find out who was responsible for a bomb explosion that damaged the second floor of the Chamber of Deputies Building Monday (11 January).

The blast took place in an office adjoining the meeting hall of the Chamber of Deputies. Damage was heavy in a 25 foot area, but there were no injuries. Authorities closed the building immediately to prevent people from leaving or entering but they were unable to apprehend anybody responsible for the bomb.

There was some panic among employees in the building when the bomb went off. It was placed at the foot of a radiator in the second floor offices of the Progressive-Democratic and Socialist-Democratic parties.

The explosion took place just after 6 PM. a time when the second floor is usually crowded. However, there was no one nearby when the bomb exploded.
