    Background: The new hydroelectric plant at the Inga Dam site in the Congo Democratic Republic was shown to the press for the first time recently. Led by Dominique Sakombi, the Information Secretary, the group of journalists was conducted on a tour of the facilities.

    The president of the National Electricity Society, Mr Nzeza, spoke to the touring pressmen, and provided them with all available information on the project.

    SYNOPSIS: National newspaper editors visited the construction site for a new hydroelectric plant in the Congo Democratic Republic recently. The journalists were led by Dominique Sakombi, the information Secretary.

    The dam at the Inga site is the first in the area, which is normally a dry valley. Work has proceeded at a very fast pace, since the go-ahead decision was given by President Joseph Mobutu a few months ago. Mr Nzeza, the President of the National Electricity Society spoke to the group of journalists. He gave the audience all available information concerning the potential of the hydroelectric plant, which will be one of the most powerful in the World.
