Background: Georges Bidault, 60, former French Prime Minister and a leader of the French Resistance in World War Two, formed a new French political party bent on an integration policy for Algeria.

At a press conference in Paris, November 5, he announced his new party - the Rassemblement pour 1. Algeria Franchise - and introduced two leading members; Roger Duchet, General Secretary of the Independents, and the Bouchaga Boualem, Algerian Deputy and Vice-President of the National Assembly.

Mr. Bidault, noted for his recent criticism of de Gaulle's Algerian policy, called last month for the resignation of one of De Gaulle's closest lieutenants - Minister of State, Jacques Soustelle show Algerian gunmen tried to shoot down in Paris, earlier this year.
