Background: British Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for War and the son-in-law of Prime Minister Mr. MacMillan flew to Singapore early this month to personally familiarize himself with the British armed forces at the strategic far eastern base for Commonwealth defence.
But it was the medical services at the British Medical Hospital in Singapore that compelled his attention for nearly 10 days. Within two days of his arrival he was admitted to the B.M.H for stomach disorder. Thirty eight year old Mr. Amery recently sustained internal injuries in a car accident in Corsica.
Pronounced completely recovered Mr. Amery continued his inspection of the British defence forces in Singapore, toured northwards into rubber and tin rich Malaya which last year became a member of the Commonwealth, and where the British forces are helping Malayans eliminate communist terrorists.
