Background: Young girls, training at Vienna's exclusive Fashion School at Hetsendorf Castle, were filmed recently by VISNEWS modelling clothes made in class. The display - part of this year's Vienna Festival - shows dress designers of the future at work...wearing their home-made dresses...a wedding parade..and traditional Viennese costumes made from paper but giving the effect of real material.
Materials for the show pieces were given by Austrian factories and textile houses.
Only the most promising of students are admitted to the School, run by the Austrian Government, and several big names in the fashion world owe their success to the training here.
Not only do the students work on dresses; furs, millinery and accessories are also part of the curriculum. From the raw design to the finished product - each item is the planned and executed by the students.
